Biography

Yuqi Chen is currently a Lecturer with the College of Information Science and Engineering, Hohai University, Changzhou, China. He received the B.S. degree from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, China, in 2019, and the Ph.D. degree in electronic science and technology from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2025. His research interests include orbital angular momentum (OAM)-based wireless communications, with a particular focus on spatial modulation and multiplexing, as well as fluid antenna systems (FAS) and physical-layer architectures for wireless communications.

Talk abstract

Orbital angular momentum (OAM) provides a set of orthogonal radiation modes. By exploiting this property, we construct flexible electromagnetic (EM) field distributions in line-of-sight (LoS) environments and realize a form of spatial modulation, termed spatial field digital modulation (SFDM). This talk presents three of our recent studies on SFDM. First, for information encoded in spatial-domain EM field distributions, we investigate a multipoint field-sampling receiver and develop an analog demodulation scheme based on spatial matched filters. Second, we study the physical-layer security (PLS) of SFDM and show that secure transmission can be achieved with finite-alphabet constellations against both single-antenna and multi-antenna eavesdroppers. Third, we experimentally demonstrate that an SFDM link can be superimposed on a commercial Wi-Fi link without disrupting normal Wi-Fi communication, enabling layered information transmission over the same wireless system.
