Liang Wu (Senior Member, IEEE) received his B.S. (2007), M.S. (2010) and Ph.D. (2013) degrees all from School of Information Science and Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing, China. From Sept. 2011 to Mar. 2013, he was with the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Oregon State University as a visiting Ph.D. student. In Sept. 2013, he joined the National Mobile Communications Research Laboratory, Southeast University, Nanjing China. Since Apr. 2024, he has been a full professor in Southeast University. His research interests are multi-antenna techniques, wireless localization, integrated sensing and communication, and optical wireless communications.
Driven by societal advances, demand for location-based services including intelligent driving, unmanned inspection, and cargo tracking continues to grow. Satellite navigation systems deliver unstable positioning performance and fail to meet high-precision localization requirements within indoor environments. Furthermore, conventional positioning approaches struggle to achieve accurate localization in indoor non-line-of-sight (NLOS) propagation scenarios. As a key enabling technology for localization in NLOS environments, the reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) will be the focus of this talk, including the time difference of arrival (TDOA) positioning method assisted by RIS, the hybrid RIS-assisted joint positioning method using angle of arrival (AOA) and time difference of arrival (TDOA), as well as the mobile RIS-assisted positioning method.
