Jong-Moon Chung

Jong-Moon Chung (Fellow, IEEE) received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electronic engineering from Yonsei University and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. Since 2005, he has been a professor in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and director of CNL at Yonsei University, where he is also the Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and professor of the Department of Emergency Medicine in the College of Medicine at Yonsei University (Seoul, South Korea). He is an IEEE Fellow and Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) member. He is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK) and has served as secretary general of the NAEK Electrical & Electronic Engineering Division from 2023 to 2024. From 1997 to 1999, he was an assistant professor and instructor at the Pennsylvania State University in the Department of Electrical Engineering. From 2000 to 2005, he was with the Oklahoma State University (OSU) as a tenured associate professor in the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering. Currently he is a Vice President of the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society (PSES), Region 10 Director of the IEEE Consumer Technology Society (CTSoc), Senior Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, Section Editor of the Wiley ETRI Journal, Chair Editor-in-Chief of the KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Systems, and served as Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology from 2011 to 2021. Dr. Chung has published the books "Emerging Secure Networks, Blockchains & Smart Contract Technologies" (Springer, 2024) and "Emerging Metaverse XR and Video Multimedia Technologies" (Apress, 2023) based on invitations from Springer Nature. Dr. Chung holds 171 patents, in which 44 are international patents, which include 18 are USA patents. In addition, his 6 courses in Coursera (on topics of deep learning, IoT, 5G, 6G, cloud computing, big data, Internet, TCP/IP, security, XR, AR, MR, etc.) has over 2.2 million unique visitors/users and has been listed in the top 33 best courses for industry re-education.
This presentation introduces advances in V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) and NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) technologies that can enable new levels of autonomous driving and intelligent vehicle operations, which will be used for enhanced passenger transportation and logistic operations.
