Talk Title: Fluid Antenna Systems for Smart Railway Communications: Challenges, Opportunities, and Future Directions
With the increasing demand for high-speed, reliable, and low-latency wireless communication in rail transit systems, traditional antenna technologies are gradually reaching their performance limits in high-mobility scenarios. Fluid Antenna Systems (FAS), as a novel reconfigurable antenna technology, offer advantages such as strong spatial diversity, structural flexibility, and compact size, bringing new possibilities to wireless communications in railway environments. This talk will focus on the application of fluid antennas in rail transit, beginning with an analysis of the key technical challenges currently faced in railway wireless communications. It will then introduce the potential of FAS to enhance communication robustness and spectral efficiency in mobile environments. Finally, it will explore future trends and research challenges of FAS in the context of intelligent transportation systems and next-generation (6G) railway communication networks.
