Hongjian Sun

Hongjian Sun received the Ph.D. degree in electronics and electrical engineering from the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, U.K. He then took a Postdoctoral positions with King’s College London, London, U.K., and Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, USA. Since 2013, he has been with the Department of Engineering, the University of Durham, Durham, U.K. He is currently a Professor (Chair), Chartered Engineer, Fellow of Durham Energy Institute, and Fellow of Higher Education Academy. He is also the Head with Durham Smart Grid Laboratory, leading a research team consisting of more than 20 doctorate researchers. He has an established track record of publishing high-quality scientific articles, with more than 180 papers in refereed journals and international conferences. His research interests include demand side management and demand response and renewable energy sources integration and virtual power plants.
